(MOBILE)-Esquire magazine has endorsed Vivian Davis Figures for U.S. Senate.

The Mobile Democrat, who currently serves in the Alabama State Senate, is running against incumbent Jeff Sessions.

In its November issue the magazine takes Sessions to task for opposing federal relief for Hurricane Katrina victims on the grounds that "it would saddle generations of Americans with debt," while supporting war-funding bills in excess of $600 billion. Esquire also suggests that Sessions has condoned excessive executive power and the use of torture.

State Senator Vivian Davis Figures wins the Democratic Nomination with 64% of the vote in the primary against two opponents. Sen. Figures received more votes than Jeff Sessions did in 36 of 67 counties.
